Shang Gao Was Granted "Chinese Wu Shu 6th Duan" Title

Shang Gao participated in Chinese Wu Shu Duan Wei (Ranking) System Seminars in Beijing, China August 2005. In addition to 4-day intensive Tai Ji and Tai Ji Weapon trainings, Master Gao also took and past all writing, oral and technique testings. Especially, his Ba Ji kung fu and Broadsword demonstration and performance got highly evaluation from both masters and students in the seminars. He was even given and called "Ba Ji Master" by all attendance from the world. After very strict and almost picky evaluation, Master Gao (with other 3 masters) was finally granted "Chinese Wu Shu 6th Duan" (the highest level for coach or technique) title by Chinese Wu Shu Association on August 18, 2005 in Beijing, China.

Black belt is used widely for Karate, Tae Kwon Do, etc. in the world. However, there is NEVER a black belt system for Chinese Martial Arts in our history. To distinguish the difference between levels, degrees and techniques, Chinese Wu Shu Duan Wei (Ranking) System was adopted by Chinese Wu Shu Association in 1998. Three animals (Eagle, Tiger and Dragon) are used as symbols for students, athletes, coaches and Wu Shu science research levels/degrees respectively. Each animal-level is further differentiated into 3 different colors (Blue, White and Gold) to indicate a specific Duan Wei (level or ranking) of Chinese Martial Artist. For example, a certified entry level or 1st Duan student will get a blue eagle sign/logo on his certificate and uniform; an intermediate level or 2nd Duan student will get a white eagle sign; an advanced or 3rd level student will get a gold eagle sign.

Chinese Wu Shu 4th through 6th Duans are for coaches, so a certified entry level or 4th Duan coach will get a blue tiger sign/logo on his certificate and uniform; an intermediate level or 5th Duan coach will get a white tiger sign; an advanced or 6th Duan coach will get a gold tiger sign. So our senior coach, Master Gao, got the highest technique sign/logo (Gold Tiger) on his certificate and uniforms this time.

"It's good to see my hard work in last more than 20 years got recognized", Master Gao said, "it's also very nice to make so many good friends from the whole world, including great experts, masters, coaches and students. It's Chinese Wu Shu that brings us together! We come here together, make friends, encourage and help each other to improve our techniques, skills and health level, enjoy our life, share and exchange information, make ourselves familiar and learn different culture, and so on. This is the most important and this is why Chinese Wu Shu is so valuable!".

Only 4 masters were granted "Chinese Wu Shu 6th Duan" (from left: Wang XiaoLin, Chairman of Chinese Wu Shu Association; Hong KoiKong from Macao; Cheng KeJin from Hong Kong; Shang Gao from USA; Chen ShiNing from Slovenian; all these masters above are the only 6th Duans from their countries)
